Job Summary

The Design Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing all design aspects of construction projects from conception through completion. This position requires a strategic thinker who can balance creative design solutions with practical construction requirements while managing stakeholders and ensuring project goals are met.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design management process across all project phases, ensuring design quality, buildability, and alignment with client requirements
• Coordinate and manage design consultants, architects, and engineers to deliver cohesive design solutions
• Review and validate design documents for compliance with project specifications, regulations, and standards
• Facilitate design workshops and coordinate design reviews with project stakeholders
• Manage the design change process, including evaluation of cost and schedule impacts
• Develop and maintain the design program and project brief in collaboration with the client
• Ensure timely production and delivery of design packages to support construction activities
• Identify design risks and implement mitigation strategies
• Maintain design quality control systems throughout the project lifecycle
• Bridge communication between design and construction teams to resolve technical challenges

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• 7-10 years of experience in design management for construction projects
• Strong understanding of building codes, standards, and construction methodologies
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex design processes
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to various audiences
• Proficiency in design and construction documentation software
• Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
• Experience with sustainable design principles and practices
• Professional certification (PMP, AIA, LEED AP, etc.) preferred
