HR Supervisor

Amentum


The Human Resources Supervisor will be based at one of three Amentum sites in Baghdad, Iraq in support of the Department of State (DoS) Embassy contract. This position reports to the Senior Human Resources Manager and partners with local managers and employees to identify, develop, and implement human resources strategies that support program goals and objectives.

The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive:

DUTIES:

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
  • Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals.
  • Collaborate with Sr. HR Manager to provide HR guidance and coaching to managers and personnel.
  • Participate in and lead employee relations investigations and support program leadership with corrective action decisions that align with both company and program practices.
  • Facilitate on-site management training and coaching sessions.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of HR procedures, guidelines in coordination with the Sr. HR Manager.
  • Monitor the recruitment process with specific emphasis of key personnel positions. This also includes monitoring and advance notification of upcoming vacancies to Program Management.
  • Monitor the entire HR function including leave/travel, performance management, and employee engagement.
  • Has oversight of the onboarding process. This includes ensuring managers assign a buddy for all new hires, and monitoring arrival and reception, new hire orientation meetings and badging.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • The candidate must demonstrate a superior ability to develop rapport and credibility at all levels of the program and to collaborate across functional areas to work towards identified goals.
  • Candidate must possess excellent communication skills and have demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Candidate must have the requisite skills and attitude to consult effectively with managers/supervisors. Strong facilitation, persuasion, and listening skills are a must.
  • Candidate must have demonstrated ability to manage multiple and complex administrative processes; good judgment and the ability to analyze and problem-solve.
  • Candidate must demonstrate a high level of adaptability, a high tolerance for ambiguity, and be able to lead and manage change throughout the program.
  • Knowledge of ALL principles and processes involved in HR functions at a large-scale overseas facility.
  • Must have the ability to be innovative and be an agent for change.
  • Exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and administrative details in a fast paced and constantly changing environment.

Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) yrs of experience in human resources supporting a large multi- national/multi-cultural workforce.
  • Minimum two (2) years supervisory experience.
  • Successful management of multiple sites in geographically dispersed location.
  • 2- 5 years of solid employee relations/investigative experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in independently assessing and resolving simple to complex employee relations issues.
  • Knowledge and experience in writing work instructions or standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
  • Sound knowledge and experience in human resources management principles: recruitment & selection, performance management, learning & development, succession planning, compensation and benefits, Human Resources Information Systems, and HR data and analytics.
  • Ability to collect, analyze and summarize data and to prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Experience in effectively dealing with international and headquarters staff, and sensitivity to other cultures.
  • Expert computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office professional software and ability to quickly adapt to new systems.

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field. HR accredited certificate will be accepted in lieu.

Medical:

  • Successfully complete a medical examination as required by Amentum and the customer for deployment to Iraq.
  • Must maintain standards of health throughout the deployment.

Other Required Qualifications:

  • US citizenship
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance.

WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS:

This position may be located in a war zone, in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment, as well as willing and able to deploy to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, while some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
