DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1

Provide CP case management and psychosocial support to vulnerable children, particularly survivors of gender-based violence and unaccompanied and separated minors at the Human Appeal’s Child Protection Community Center in A’ana (Anbar), Iraq.

Conduct BIA (Best Interest Assessment), development of an action plan for recovery, implementation of the action plan and ensuring appropriate follow up/revision and case closure when appropriate of the identified children including unaccompanied minors and separated children.

Ensure proper documentation of reported Child Protection incidences through utilization of BIA and other case management forms appropriately.

Lead sessions to increase awareness on the consequences of Child Protection issues, GBV, promote available services to the children at risk and address stigma preventing access to services at the CP Community Center.

Maintain accurate records, and beneficiaries’ files that are in line with CPIMS, BIA Protocols and Standards.

Provide accurate referrals and ensure adequate follow up of all referred cases.

Organize focus group discussions on relevant information when needed.

Provide individual and group counselling to the identified cases of Child Protection

Prepare and submit the assessment reports of identified cases along with the recommendations to the Child Protection Officer for review and feedback.

Work with relevant stakeholders in the community like Mukhatar, Community influential, parents, teachers to identify the needs, interests and priorities of the children as relevant to the context, adapt activities according to these to ensure services offered are culturally appropriate and meet the needs of children and their caretakers.

Perform any other duties as required by the supervisor from time to time

Adherence to the GBV Guiding Principles for Case management, Do No Harm, Human Appeal policies on Confidentiality, Child Protection etc.

PERSON SPECIFICATION (Education, Experience, Skills. Abilities)

Minimum Requirements:

1

Bachelor degree in social sciences, Law, Human Rights, International Law or related field. Mater degree is a plus.

2

2 years of experience working with NGOs/INGOs, particularly in the GBV or Child Protection case management roles

3

Strong conceptual and practical understanding of Protection and GBV issues and approaches in humanitarian contexts, including the constraints/risks and cultural sensitivities of work in Iraq.

4

Excellent listening and observation skills, including ability to create trust, support, respect and interact with survivors of all ages, background and diversity

5

Counselling and training experience, including experience working with women and girls preferred

6

Positive and professional attitude, able to organize, maintain composure and prioritize work under pressure, work overtime when necessary and be able to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients at all times is essential.

Ability to keep records and write BIA reports/Assessment reports

9

Experiences in conducting service mapping and referral pathways.

Fluent in Arabic language. English language skills are desirable

DUTY STATION:
