Community Support Worker

This is a casual / on-call position with no guaranteed hours.

You will be joining an established Agency that is guided by faith to care for and bring hope to people in need with humility, compassion and respect. With more than 50 years of service delivery, Catholic Social Services is one of the largest multi-function social services agencies in Canada, with more than 1800 staff, and 2000 volunteers delivering 130+ programs throughout Central and Northern Alberta.

As a Community Support Worker, you will work closely within a team to support a smooth transition into Canada for our newcomers. In consultation and with guidance from the Settlement Counsellors and Program Coordinator, you will provide interpretation services to clients in their own language. You will interpret for them in orientation sessions and at various appointments. You will also teach life skills and provide hands-on learning with the aim of assisting newcomers master the skills necessary to live successfully in Canada.

Qualifications:
Your Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent, along with your training or experience working with newcomers and providing interpretation services make you an ideal candidate for this on call position. In addition to English, you should also be fluent in one or more of the following languages:

Swahili

Kirundi

Kinyarwanda

Kinyamulenge

Lingala

Spanish

French

Tigrinya

Amharic

Arabic

Oromo

Somali

Farsi

Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $20.01 to $22.51 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
