We are seeking a Fixed-Term Program Operations Associate, for a period of 24 months, based in Amman. The Program Operations Associate will perform a wide range of responsibilities that materially advance portfolio strategies to support the work and aspirations of the region’s civil society.

As a Program Operations Associate at Open Society, you will:
- Provide sophisticated administrative support for grant making activities and other program functions, such as assisting in the review of proposals, reports, and other documents for compliance, and following up with grantees to maintain contractual records;
- Collaborate with program staff in data review and visualization, including editing drafts and compiling and presenting information in an accessible way;
- Assist with processing grants, including setting up records, soliciting necessary documentation, and updating partner information, as well as identifying and implementing grants-management and online application troubleshooting;
- Conduct desk research and compile background information on organizations and/or fields of support; gather preliminary data for organizational assessments, such as basic analysis of budgets and audit reports;
- Develop an efficient workflow using information management systems, tools, and templates to maintain the unit’s budgets, supervise work plan progress, monitor overdue reports and payments, and process contracts and consultancy agreements;
- Provide operational and logistics support to team members in coordinating events, organizing site visits, and planning convenings, which may include managing reservations and bookings, scheduling meetings, and maintaining team calendars.
What we are looking for:
- One to three years of progressively complex administrative/operational experience in civil society projects, preferably in project administration;
- Knowledge and interest in one or more substantive areas such as human rights, arts and culture, media, civic engagement, and/or government relations;
- Demonstrated experience with meeting logistics and organization, as well as experience working with budgets and creating/managing Excel spreadsheets;
- Proven research skills and an ability to compile, organize, and analyze data;
- Strong written and oral communications skills in English and Arabic;
- Integrity; an ability to handle confidential matters with sensitivity and discretion, balance competing priorities, and work independently;
- Commitment to continuous learning and growth in the areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, antiracism and social justice;
- Commitment to listening and working with humility; ways of working that are respectful to all people; and that support space and voice for all diverse perspectives in our workplace.
Desirable (but not required):
- Demonstrated project management experience highly desirable;
- Familiarity with written and spoken French.
