Field Geologist

  • Provide field services in accordance with client’s request and contract specifications.
  • Organize field testing and supervision using appropriate techniques in coordination with the geologist/engineer and sr. geologist/sr. engineer.
  • To be fully aware of the company’s contractual obligations for the project and to ensure they are met. Monitor and organise site progress, logging, data processing with project appointed engineer/geologist in office and support of technical assistants.
  • Actively contribute to implementation of published Quality Assurance, Health, Safety and Environmental procedures in the work place.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor/Masters in Geology or a Similar Degree
  • At least 5 years experience in soil investigation, logging, drilling methods, and detailed understanding of in-situ testing and familiarity with laboratory testing. Updated with geotechnical logging, laboratory, and in-situ-testing standards.
  • Good English skills with more focus on verbal and listening.

Skills / Experience :

  • Work closely with field team to implement the client geotechnical investigation requirements.
  • Coordinate and perform geological field mapping using GIS (fluency in ArcGIS software preferred)
  • Assist with project execution in the field and office.
  • Lead operation team onsite to ensure that the site works performed as per required standard/specification and in a safely manner.
  • Taking a responsibility of Site Supervision including all related site operation works and logistics Support
  • Coordinate with Project manager to ensure that the site works performed as per required standard/specification and in a safely manner.
  • Perform geotechnical logging/classification/sampling as per ASTM/BS/client specific requirement in Soil/Rocks and completion of borehole logs.
  • Carry out in-situ test performance/processing as per required standard ASTM/BS.
  • Taking core photographs as per required standard.
  • Delivering the field data sheet in approved format to project team for further processing.
  • Complete assignments in a timely, organized, and accurate manner.
  • Maintain changeability and become self-directed to identify ways to support the project team.
  • Ensures all activities are carried out with the highest regard to the health and safety of all involved.
  • Be able to travel extensively (required), predominantly around the kingdom.
  • Good working knowledge with MS office (word, excel etc).
  • Support and encourage continuous improvement of the company’s processes, including safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
  • Coach drillers and helpers in the field in order to stay aligned with project schedule and client’s needs.
  • Liaise with client’s representatives in the field and maintain good relationship with them.
  • Transfer his/her knowledge to entry level field geologist.
  • Awareness of any specific health and safety measures needed on a project.
  • Observe and follow all company safety rules and procedures and ensure safe working of fellow workers at all the time site.
  • Client requirements and local legislation.
  • Attend site meetings with client if necessary
  • Maintain good relationship with peers and other department personnel (Operations, Laboratory, Commercial staff).
