Interpreting Service Specialist II

Job Summary

The Interpreting Service Specialist (ISS) II manages L.A. Care Health Plan’s interpreting services program, including receiving and scheduling interpreting requests, assigning services requests to appropriate vendors, processing invoices, and ensuring vendors provide quality interpreting services. In addition, ISS serves as the liaison between interpreting service vendors, L.A. Care members, and L.A. Care staff by leading internal and external meetings with key staff and vendors, including face-to-face, telephonic, and ASL vendors, as well as responding to requests for data from internal staff. ISS conducts analysis and trending of language assistance services and develops innovative programs to improve services for members and providers in accordance with established timeline and budget. Additional duties of ISS include: responding to C&L-related grievances and other C&L related activities.

Duties

Coordination and continuous improvement of interpreting services. (35%)

Vendor and client management. Serves as the liaison between interpreting service vendors, members, and staff. (15%)

Maintains the budget for vendors and internal departments. Ensures appropriate payment for all vendor invoices. (15%)

Develop projects/programs to improve services for members and support C&L services. (15%)

Responsible for developing, conducting, and evaluating training/education programs. (10%)

Perform other duties as assigned. (10%)

Education Required

Associate’s Degree

Education Preferred

Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics or Related Field

Experience

Required:
At least 0-2 years of experience interpreting or coordinating interpreting services and project coordination with the demonstrated skills stated in the required skills area.

Experience analyzing data and implementing projects.

Skills

Required:
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work well with language service providers and other team members.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to perform multiple tasks at once; ability to manage time wisely and prioritize projects.

Preferred:
Bilingual in one of L.A. Care Health Plan’s threshold languages is highly desirable. English, Spanish, Chinese, Armenian, Arabic, Farsi, Khmer, Korean, Russian, Tagalog, Vietnamese.
