Position Summary
The Director of Operations – COO is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of corporate strategies related to the execution of multiple regional programs and their supporting operational activities; effective and efficient day-to-day operation of corporate systems; and decisions about utilization and prioritization of global resources in support of the strategic vision.
This is a Germany-based position with travel expected to a global network of program sites as necessary.
Essential Functions
- Reports to and collaborates with the CEO on advancing the company’s vision and operational / social-impact strategies;
- Translates strategies into executable roadmaps that balance company growth with socioeconomic development of the markets in which the company operates;
- Provides oversight of all corporate programs and business functions by developing and implementing a collaborative, supporting role strategy which best aligns corporate resources with geographically disbursed requirements;
- Responsible for acquisition of materials and services, hiring and training of staff, and management of a broad range global support and logistics activities; and
- Responsible for employee productivity and building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members are valued and challenged, and well resourced to succeed in their areas of responsibility.

- The ability to develop, mentor and lead highly functional teams from broad cultural and diverse back-grounds, capable of autonomous decision-making appropriate to individual levels of responsibility;
- The ability to anticipate emerging business requirements and effectively map resources to meet those requirements;
- The ability to foster strong relationships with international clientele in public and private sectors; and
- The ability to rapidly learn new skills and gain new knowledge.
Experience / Education Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of operations management and/or executive leadership experience with demonstrated performance and capability required;
- Minimum 8 years of operations management and/or executive leadership experience with demonstrated performance and capability desired;
- Operations management and/or executive leadership experience in geographically dispersed environments highly desired;
- Higher education in related fields desired (experience and capabilities may take precedence over education);
- Fluent English required; and
- Proficient Arabic, German, Kurdish and/or Swahili desired.
