The Humanities Division is accepting applications to be considered for Arabic adjunct instruction for Fall quarter 2021. Green River College welcomes faculty who have a commitment to teaching and the ability to use high-impact teaching practices and a variety of methods and modes of instruction to ensure student success. Given the diversity of our student population, we encourage applications from individuals who can adapt teaching methods to a wide range of student backgrounds and interests. The Foreign Language department is seeking innovative and creative faculty members who are committed to the spirit of active learning, natural approach to language instruction and inquiry methods of education. The department encourages collaboration with colleagues to promote student success.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Arabic 121—A beginning language course focusing on the study of Modern Standard Arabic. It develops the ability to read, speak, listen and write in Arabic through the consideration of cultural themes, language functions, and authentic situations. Stresses communication using both formal and informal Arabic and exposes the students to the diversity and social issues of the Arab-speaking world.

COURSE MODALITY:
This class is a Hybrid/Virtual: Part of the class will be held online without a set time to attend. The other part will meet on MWF from 10-11 am in a virtual format using Zoom.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in Arabic.

One year of college-level teaching Arabic, in which the candidate was the primary instructor for at least one course per quarter or semester.

Demonstrated educational experience working with people of diverse racial, ethnic, age, abilities, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful teaching experience at the college level.

Use and development of active-learning materials for instruction.

Excellent writing and speaking skills.

Demonstrated involvement in professional activities in promoting Arabic and Arabic culture on campus and in the community.
