Role Summary/Purpose
The Grid Services Specialist II will provide customer with technical support and promote overall consumer satisfaction. Will also provide Engineering and Product Development feedback by performing the following duties.
Essential Function
- Performs installation, Testing/Commissioning , repair, maintenance and retrofit on Grid products, Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), High Voltage Circuit Breakers , Disconnectors, Transformers and Generator Circuit Breakers.
- Plan, organize, integrate direct / non-direct technicians.
- Supervise substation personnel and construction crews in the installation of the organization’s products and equipment. When applicable, supervise and instruct subordinate Field Services Technicians as site project lead technician.
- Responsible for the quality and performance of the field equipment in terms of documentation and EHS.
- Witness FAT for products that will be installed at site.
- Perform assembly and installation of Alstom and GE legacy products.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on products purchased from GE or under legacy company brands.
- Inform and advise customers about proper care of products, product evolution, part modifications, and warnings.
- Perform customer level maintenance training on Circuit Breaker and Disconnector products
- Respond quickly to customer inquiries to keep response time to a minimum.
- Keep abreast of current developments in the company and its products, such as changes or improvements in design, production, or shipping procedures as well as new product developments in order to provide customers the highest quality of service.
- Record activities of work performed in the field, parts shipped, or technical assistance that is provided over the phone using Field Services forms and documents.
- Maintain corporate image in all situations.
- Continually train to expand knowledge of Gas Insulated Switchgear, Circuit Breaker and Disconnector product line as well as other GE or GE legacy products
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering and/or 5 years of experience without formal degree, in power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance, or power plant equipment installation/ commissioning.
- Successful completion of required training programs is a minimum requirement
- Demonstrated progressive, responsible experience with various types of turbine generator equipment and site accountabilities is required.
Desired Characteristics
- Knowledge and skill to actively support an outage
- Experience in successful installations and outages.
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical engineering.
- Experience of 3-5 years in handling 33KV to 550KV SubStations Equipment.
- Certification SF6 Gas handling
- Local Statutory Electrical Qualifications ie Niosh, LEW
- Wide degree of creativity and latitude
- Strong analytic, organizational and problem solving skills
- Excellent customer, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of computer Applications like MS Office / MS Project
- Able to travel overseas as required
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Ability to work independently
