Position Summary: The Adjunct Instructor of Arabic is a part-time position scheduled to teach two Arabic Sections each of our three academic terms. This position will work closely with other members of the World Languages Department, including the Department Chairperson, to develop and implement curriculum for Hill students. Instructors are responsible for classroom instruction, communication with students and parents as well as student advisers, and remaining current on educational issues through participation in professional organizations.
Job Responsibilities:
Teaching assigned 2 sections within the World Languages Department of Arabic (approximately 15-20 students per term).
Writing the official school course comment for each student.
Writing recommendations to college and various programs on behalf of individual students.
Meeting with parents as appropriate.
Actively participating in regional, state, and national professional organizations.
Traveling to conferences and workshops in order to maintain professional activities.
Participating in other school events, such as parent’s weekend, commencement, and other high profile events and activities to support our students and School community.
Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background teaching Arabic. Native speakers are particularly encouraged to apply. . Other skills and/or qualities necessary for this position are: effective verbal and written communication skills; a genuine willingness to work closely with students and colleagues; a high energy level; and, of course, a good and enduring sense of humor! A bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
