Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Construction Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to assist in overseeing and managing construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and according to design specifications.
With 2 years of experience, the candidate will provide technical support, monitor construction progress, and help ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a junior engineer to grow in the field of construction engineering and contribute to successful project delivery.
What You’ll Be Doing;
- Assist in overseeing day-to-day construction activities on-site, ensuring that work is completed safely and according to specifications.
- Monitor and report on the progress of construction projects, including checking work quality and adherence to project timelines.
- Ensure that construction activities comply with safety standards, local regulations, and environmental policies.
- Work closely with senior engineers and project managers to ensure technical accuracy and smooth implementation of engineering designs.
- Provide support during construction planning and help coordinate the activities of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Assist in reviewing design documents and construction plans to ensure their feasibility and constructability.
- Assist in ensuring that all construction activities meet quality standards and specifications.
- Perform inspections and quality checks to verify that materials, workmanship, and safety protocols are up to standard.
- Document and report any issues or discrepancies encountered on-site and collaborate with the project team to resolve them.
- Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date project records, including daily reports, progress logs, and inspection reports.
- Help prepare reports for project meetings and management reviews, providing updates on timelines, budgets, and any concerns.
- Assist with the preparation of technical submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), and change orders.
- Assist in managing the use of materials, labor, and equipment to ensure they are used efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Help track project expenses and assist in ensuring the project stays within budget.
- Participate in resource planning and allocation to optimize the construction process.
- Ensure that all site activities comply with health and safety regulations and that the work environment is safe for all personnel.
- Assist in conducting safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and risks.
- Ensure that environmental regulations and sustainability practices are followed during construction activities.
- Assist in identifying and resolving on-site construction issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Collaborate with the project team to ensure that any technical challenges or delays are addressed promptly to minimize impact on the schedule.
- Assist in coordinating with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Help facilitate effective communication between the engineering team and other departments, ensuring that all parties are aligned with project goals and deadlines.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring;
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction engineering or a related field, preferably within infrastructure or building projects.
- Some experience with site management and coordination of construction activities.
- Knowledge of construction processes, materials, and equipment.
- Proficiency in construction software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project) and MS Office Suite.
- Familiarity with construction codes and regulations (local and international).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to identify potential issues and recommend solutions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with project management tools and software (e.g., Primavera, Procore).
- Experience in quality control or safety management on construction sites.
- Basic knowledge of cost control and resource management practices.
