Job Description

  • Inspect all food storage and preparation areas at least once a shift to ensure correct hygiene and food storage procedures are practiced in the assigned area.
  • Inspect and taste all mis-en-place on a daily basis.
  • Ensure all food is prepared according to the standards and methods.
  • Set an example to all other kitchen staff in regard to grooming, uniform and personal hygiene standards.
  • Ensure maximum productivity through effective planning and correct storage practice.
  • Liaise closely with the Executive Chef on construction of new menus, promotional concepts and new food trends at the assigned area.
  • Maintain a “hands on” mentality assisting in food production.
  • Adheres to confidential information / policies obtained in day to day operations / outlined in the letter of appointment.
  • To display a keen inquisitive and positive attitude towards developing the skills required and accept criticism and correction in a similar manner.

Qualifications

  • Service focused personality is essential and previous supervisory experience in a luxury hotel environment preferred
  • Well-rounded experience in all areas of the culinary field
  • Work well under pressure and be able to think on your feet
  • Ability to lead by example, believe in a strong team culture and set the scene for high performance
