  • Order and purchase pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, and drugs, maintaining stock and storing and handling it properly
  • Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, and registries of poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs
  • Advise patients and physicians on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment and health-care supplies
  • Collaborate with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drugs and drug regimens, providing advice on drug applications and characteristics
  • Compound and dispense medications as prescribed by doctors, by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, or oversee these activities
  • Offer health promotion and prevention activities, for example, training people to use devices such as blood pressure or diabetes monitors
  • Plan, implement, and maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal
  • Responsible for procurement of registered, unregistered, and controlled pharmaceutical supplies through external sources
  • The nature of demands of employment may necessitate attendance at work at times other than and in addition to the normal working hours (i.e. working shift cycles to suit the needs of PIMC) and expected to comply with any reasonable directions of PIMC to this effect

8. QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL

PREFERRED

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician program
  • Graduate from an accredited Pharmaceutical program of a minimum duration of three (4) years Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy

Experience

  • Has clinical experience within a hospital setting – 2 years as a minimum

Certification and Licensure

  • DOH Licensed
  • Current certification in BLS

Job Specific Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience with JCI accreditation.
  • Familiar and experienced with DOH policies and procedures
