Main Purpose:

 

Supervising the clinical activities and guaranteeing the quality of midwifery care in the department, according to MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards in order to provide a high-quality Mother and Child Health (MCH) care to the population

Accountabilities

 

  • Supervising, supporting, and evaluating of the midwives in the activity areas
  • Planning and organizing the activity (duty areas, shifts, attendance, roster, etc.) of the staff according to working schedule.
  • Coaching and supervising the skills and knowledge of the midwives and giving training according to the need.
  • Ensuring teamwork and a professional relationship between maternity and other departments.
  • Supervising and supporting the clinical activities in all the maternity departments (SRH services) activities such as ANC, delivery, and immediate and follow-up PNC, FP, and newborn vaccinations according to MSF guidelines and protocols,
  • Collaborating and consulting complicated cases to gynae for better medical management and/or referral procedures.
  • Monitor and assist in the implementation and follow-up of IPC Protocols (standards/ precautions, biohazard prevention, and infection control) in all activity areas to gather with staff, and actively participate in the IPC committee meeting.
  • Monitor and follow staff for using biomedical devices (cleaning, maintenance, and functionality) tasks from the focal person are performed according to the protocols, and to report any malfunctions to the responsible professionals.
  • Supervise and support the department drugs, supply, and equipment inventory (pharmacy items) and allocation of drugs in the end user units, monitoring of cold chain and labeling of medications, Checking and replacing the emergency boxes, accordingly, monitor drug expiry date and avoid accordingly.
  • Perform and support the submission of all the administrative procedures (sick leave, annual leave, payment, Public holiday sheet) of midwives according to HR timeframe.
  • Follow proper data documentation (patient cards, registration books, birth announcement) and daily activity tally sheets, and perform weekly and monthly data collection and support the MWS/EMWS.
  • Supervise and review case files to identify documentation gaps and problems with data quality.
  • Perform/support MWS/EMWS/MWAM to identify, receive, and provide care to the victims of the SGBV according to MSF guidelines and protocols.
  • Follow the proper case referral and registration of outcomes feedback and strengthen referral linkage with partners.
  • Follow staff communications with cases on proper ethical professional practice and keeping confidentiality.
  • Support MWS on conflict resolution mechanisms within the staff.
  • Implement/support staff daily, weekly, or monthly meetings according to the need.
  • Support MWS/EMWS/MWAM and implement skill and knowledge gap identification and capacity building of the staff by looking MW logbook.
  • Follow, respect, and commit to organizational rules and protocols on the management of misbehavior and misconduct.
  • Ensure and follow on-time consultation of critical cases for doctors, MWAM, and follow the accurate management of the cases on time.

 

  • Participate in all Departmental activity-related meetings.

 

  • Be flexible if there is any situation that needs extra effort by the organization

 

 

 

Requirements

 

 

 

  • Education:

Diploma of Midwife (or any Diploma recognized in the country and /or the Ministry of Health to practice as such)

 

  • Experience:

Minimum 2-year experience as Midwife

 

  • Language:

Local language essential. Mission language desirable.
