The Opportunity:
The Refugee & Immigrant Specialized Experience (RISE) program provides individualized support to vulnerable immigrant and refugee newcomer youth in the Surrey, North Delta and Langley communities with the goal of supporting their successful integration into the community. The Youth Programs work with eligible clients using an integrated, holistic and client-centred model, providing clients with specific One-on-One case management or Family Services, as well as Group Services.
The key areas of responsibility are:
Conduct outreach to solicit client referrals to the program;
Respond to client referrals by outlining the program eligibility and services;
Conduct client intake of eligible clients, including Service Consent or provides information on and referrals to other community service providers, resources and professionals;
Conduct in-home assessment of client needs, assets and capacities through interviewing clients, preparing case histories;
Plan, prepare and conduct life skills training, encouragement and support (individual service);
Participate in the development, and implementation of group services, including the workshops, courses, and support groups;
Provide in-home and community support and guidance to clients and families;
Provide emotional support, cultural brokerage and feedback to clients;
Participate in integrated case management meetings with professionals and social workers to report clients’ activities and progress, discuss case planning, issues and concerns;
Maintain related records and statistics to produce reports, including intake, progress, and discharge;
Liaise with other community service providers, professionals to coordinate services and to ensure that interests of clients are considered in decisions affecting them;
Accompanies clients to meetings and appointments as needed.
Qualifications candidates will posses:
One (1) year recent experience in case managing vulnerable refugee populations, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
Fluency in reading, writing and speaking Arabic;
Demonstrated recent experience in conducting client needs assessments with multi- barrier vulnerable immigrant and refugee populations and implementing a holistic service or action plan;
Demonstrated ability to implement professional boundaries with clients;
Knowledge of the refugee experience and refugee settlement issues and knowledge of community agencies, services and resources, especially in the communities of Surrey, North Delta and/or Langley;
Demonstrated ability to work independently, problem solve with confidence to ensure effective case management;
Working knowledge of standard office equipment and software applications;
A valid class 5 Drivers’ license and access to a vehicle;
Ability to work a flexible schedule.
This position requires union membership.
