Position Title: Summer Camp Nurse

Reports to: Vice President of Academic Programs

Program Overview:
The Steppingstone Scholars Program, a program of The Steppingstone Foundation, provides academic, social-emotional, and college-readiness services to Boston students, beginning as early as fifth grade and continuing all the way through college graduation. This summer, Steppingstone will enroll 230 fifth, sixth and seventh grade Scholars. The program will last for 5 weeks and will be held in person at Milton Academy.

Position Overview:
The Summer Camp Nurse, in collaboration with program leadership, will be responsible for the health and wellness of Steppingstone Scholars and staff. The nurse will coordinate COVID testing each Wednesday, and consult with program leadership and staff regarding health and safety protocols, and student care. The nurse must be able to work in person at Milton Academy, at least three (3) weekdays from approximately 7:45 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. Wednesdays are required.

Pay Rate: $33.00 – $37.00 per hour; minimum of 24 hours per week

Important Dates:
Orientation: July 8-9, 2021

Program Dates: July 12-August 13, 2021

Responsibilities:
Coordinate weekly COVID pool testing

Support the implementation of Steppingstone’s protocols for positive tests, including communication with families, and the Department of Public Health

Check in with families of Scholars who report or exhibit symptoms consistent with the COVID-19 virus

Administer medication

Provide first aid treatment to Scholars and staff as needed

Provide weekly consultation in Advising team meetings to program staff on the physical and emotional wellness of Scholars

Develop care plans for Scholars as needed

. Requirements:
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Registered Nurse (RN) license

Knowledge of many areas of health, including mental health

Knowledge of state health regulations and CDC guidelines regarding the COVID-19 virus

Basic Life Support or CPR certification

Ability to work independently and with others

Ability to communicate well with others

Ability to assess situations and act quickly

Demonstrated commitment to educational and racial equity in college access and success

Successful experience working with upper elementary and/or middle-grade students in an urban, multicultural setting

Fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Arabic, or Haitian Creole a plus

Experience in Boston Public Schools a plus
