Communications and Media Consultant

Job Description:

On behalf a client, Kurdish Advisory Group is in search for a Media Relations Consultant to join its communications team.

The ideal candidate will play a critical role in supporting media and public relations activities of the client.

Working closely with the organizational leaders to develop a media strategy clearly outlining strategy, techniques, and results within timeframes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Draft, edit, and proof-read Op-eds, press releases, media statements, and other types of announcements. Coordinate the review and finalization/publication process.
  • Coordinate and secure interviews with news outlets. Help in developing the messaging component.
  • Train members for media appearances
  • Share daily media articles and other news with relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Work with the team to manage, prioritize, and respond to daily media requests and advance broader media engagement programs and priorities.
  • Create and maintain targeted media lists and distribute practice updates to target media and reporters. Help draft and review media relations plans.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in communications, journalism, media or other relevant area.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in media relations.
  • Knowledge of Kurdish politics and MENA region in general
  • Excellent writing ability and grammar, spelling and proofreading skills; ability to draft, create and proof high quality content.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships and communicate verbally and in writing in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to quickly understand the organization’s priorities and external messaging and to incorporate those themes accordingly into developed plans and strategies.
  • Proficient in MS Office Products (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel). Ability to understand and learn new technology applications for media monitoring, communications, data visualization, and design.
  • Understanding of social media platforms, online content distribution, and website optimization a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented service environment.
  • Capable of staying productive and accurate with tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative, and works independently.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $2,000.00 – $2,500.00 per month
