TITLE: Student Success Advisor

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting students from pre-enrollment to completion. It provides holistic services for a defined set of students with a primary goal of helping them overcome barriers to their success in college.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Build relationships with students to help them achieve their identified goals and objects.

Review student progress and track student use of academic support services.

Assist students in identifying factors that contribute to lack of academic progress, help students examine alternatives, and apply appropriate retention strategies to support students’ efforts.

Strategize with faculty and other college staff as needed to improve support student success.

Maintain accurate tracking data and notes for each assigned student, recommending appropriate referrals and opportunity programs.

Support annual recruitment of new students.

Create and conduct training sessions/workshops for students, faculty and staff.

Assist with a developing and implementing a variety of institutional retention activities.

Participate in new student orientation and first year experience activities.

Utilize an SIS student records system and be able to function within a computerized office environment.

Related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

One year of experience working in a community college environment in a role that directly serves/supports students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree from an accredited institution

Bilingual, with fluency in Arabic or Spanish

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to manage a caseload system of advising

Effective oral and written communication skills

Excellent customer service skills

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the general public, students, faculty, and staff.

Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

RATE OF PAY: $41,360 – $51,700 annual salary depending on experience
